Since its inception in 2017, the Awards have become a beacon of recognition for the incredible talent and dedication within East Belfast. This year, they have undergone some exciting changes, including the introduction of new sponsors, additional categories, and the option for entrants to submit video entries, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all.
The awards have seen over 200 finalists and winners celebrated for their outstanding contributions to the community. This year’s categories reflect the diverse tapestry of East Belfast, with ‘Favourite School Hero’ being one of the notable new additions. This category aims to honour the unsung heroes in the education sector who go above and beyond to make a positive impact on students, staff, and the wider community associated with their school.
Jonathan McAlpin, Chair of the organising committee and Chief Executive of East Belfast Enterprise, expressed his pride in the growth of the Eastside Awards, stating, “We are celebrating the achievements of people in our community, organisations operating successful businesses, and projects that are making a real impact at a grassroots level in East Belfast and beyond.”
