6 Must-Ask Questions
Before You Hire a Gas Service Company
1. Are you a fully certified engineer?
Making sure you are working with a certified engineer is probably the single most important question to ask to make sure you don’t get ripped off. There are so many engineers acting without a licence working with both domestic and commercial clients.
Luckily, all Solv engineers on the Gas Safe Register which is an official list of gas engineers who are qualified to work safely and legally on gas appliances, ensuring that work is done well and within reasonable costs.
2. What will I be charged?
All charges are fully detailed on our website www.solvgroup.com
At Solv we charge a call out fee that covers the first hour of work, if the issue cannot be diagnosed or rectified within this timescale we will charge customers per half hour or quote for a repair if new parts are needed. This way we keep our customers fully aware of charges throughout the process.
You’ll be paying to ensure the work is properly done and for our engineers’ expertise and experience – well worth it if you ask us.
3. When will payment be due?
Payment will be due on completion of any work carried out, we can take this payment in many forms, including cash, cheque, bacs, credit or debit card. With commercial clients we can set up an account once some quick credit checks have been carried out, giving 30 days terms.
4.Who will be doing the work?
We like the personal touch here at Solv and our engineers are no exception. Not only are all calls answered personally by one of our own in house helpdesk team but when we undertake the work you’ll be welcoming one of our specialised team – Mark, Chris, or Davy– into your home or work place.
All our employees undertake regular training to ensure they are fully informed regarding products, technology updates and the compliance with health and safety regulations. All Solv staff are PSNI checked with AccessNI ensuring you are dealing with trusted individuals.
5. Will I be able to get my engineer when I need him?
Unlike many solo gas engineers the team at Solv ensure that there will always be an engineer available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year so you will never be left in an emergency situation. Our advisors will give advice over the phone where they can and ensure the most qualified engineer for your specific needs is sent when necessary to give you the most cost effective resolution to your problems.
6. Do you clean up your own mess?
Simple answer – YES! We won’t leave you with piles of rubbish, dirt and debris to clean up and dispose of after we’ve left.
Yes may seem like the obvious choice but a lot of companies do not bother to clean up their mess before they leave, meaning homeowners and businesses are left with old parts, boxes and dust and dirt to tidy up OR you get a bill afterwards if they have cleaned it up but it wasn’t included in the original quote given to you.
